Alright, alright... so this one's a BIG deal. I have now photographed my very first wedding! And OMG; it was a beautiful one at that. You may be wondering, how did I end up here? (insert comical flash back).
My friend Katelynn came to me with the opportunity to work under her wing for this wedding. I would play the part to cover more ground on the day of and work to get more creative shots/a different perspective for her and the bride. It was an absolutely amazing opportunity. It was so sweet getting to know Wendy & Ryan. So as always, here are some things I observed and are still absolutely obsessed with.
At the beginning of the day, it's a standard to start getting detail shots of the little things before everything is put into place. We opened her jewelry box, and there it was. The exact same jewelry I wore on my wedding day? WHAT? I felt it was destiny immediately. What are the odds?? A gorgeous rose gold necklace, bracelet and earrings in the shape of roses. Perfectly for their gorgeously whimsical wedding.
The colors for this wedding day had me in awe as well. Beautiful arrays of colors and natural theme to this wedding. And to go with it, the sounds of viking music. An absolutely beautiful theme.
Now, all of that is great. But on top of it all; the cherry on top; both of their families were so sweet. Even on a colder day, they were filled with warmth and love. Cheery and filled with the upmost support. And person of the day definitely goes to Wendy's friend; the officiant, makeup artist, hairdresser and speech giver. Just one example of the amazing people that came together to make this day truly magical. Another thing is the cord for they used for their hand-fasting ceremony was made by the brides daughter! Hand-woven with love for her mother and Ryan.
And the last thing I want to mention. The generational dance. This one made me wanna redo my whole wedding cause the idea of my family doing something like this made me tear up. The DJ called every married couple to the floor to dance. Everyone came up to dance. As they waltz, the DJ told the newlyweds to exit the floor. And after that, he told the the ones married for 3 years to exit, then 5 years, 10 years. They slowly exited and kissed as they walked away, couple by couple. Until the last ones were left, married for 51 years. A beautiful example of couples through all generations. Leaving the spotlight for those who have been together through it all. Wise and full of love.
Wendy & Ryan, thank you endlessly for having me. It was an absolute honor that your beautiful wedding was my first. Katelynn; thank you for this opportunity. This wedding day is one to never forget.
