Recently, my mom and dad redid their bedroom to this beautiful beach aesthetic. Down to painting the walls and adding a beige throw blanket.
They said they wanted to go and get a piece to go on the wall to bring it all together and of course I had to offer.
“What if we did a beach photoshoot? It would be perfect and we could create some memories!”
They were obviously so down. Especially when I started to mention this idea..
I follow this photographer on Instagram, @jesswilliamsphotography. started following her because I saw these photos she would take with these seagulls. I was blown away, it was perfectly cinematic with the poses and seagulls flying above. I saw that she used goldfish to feed the seagulls and get them flying around!
So I thought, let’s do it! I did some research and goldfish are the perfect snack for them. The goldfish do no harm and the seagulls also just love the salt (according to Google).
So we set out on a beautiful day and found a spot where there wasn’t any people. Adam, my husband, came along and I gave him feeding the seagulls duty. What I didn’t expect was the seagulls catching the goldfish in the air? It was like feeding chickens but upwards!
It started with 5, and quickly it turned into a crowd of over 20 seagulls. The hovered close but never flew at us. Hovering for more goldfish to be thrown.
Unexpectedly, they were really easy to work with. They flew around perfectly where Adam was feeding them.
This photoshoot was so fun and was definitely a checklist item after seeing @jesswilliamsphptography’s work! Absolutely obsessed and would love to do this at all of my beach sessions! It seriously just adds another element of cinema. The movement captured in beautifully prompted photos!
Now to choose which one to put on the wall….
We might be here a while..
